Australian-owned Firebird Metals Limited (ASX: FRB, Firebird or the Company) is
pleased to provide an update on its activities for the quarter ended 30 September 2026
(“the Quarter”).
Firebird CEO, Mr Ron Mitchell, commented:
“The September quarter saw Firebird deliver on every front of the Australian Demonstration
Plant program. We completed all ARENA Milestone 1 deliverables ahead of schedule and within
budget, received our first A$1.0 million non-dilutive cash payment, moved into our Osborne
Park facility and welcomed Dr Chris Passmore as Technical Lead and our first ADP employee.
“The quarter also delivered powerful validation of our technology platform. Independent
international customer testing confirmed our ability to produce high-purity manganese
sulphate exceeding 99.99%, and independent electrochemical testing confirmed our
proprietary LMR cathode material performs in line with commercial benchmark material –
positioning Firebird among the first Western-listed companies to publicly report LMR
performance data. Subsequent to the quarter ending the Company produced the first 99.999%
or 5N ultra-high purity manganese sulphate which commands an approximate 33% price
premium due to its structural scarcity within the advanced battery materials value chain. This
milestone is testament to the advanced proprietary manganese battery materials flow sheet
the Company has developed over many years.
“With the first container of ADP equipment soon to arrive at Fremantle, first Oakover feedstock
prepared, and site readiness activities completed, we are well positioned to soon commence
assembly of the first fully integrated, proprietary manganese battery materials demonstration
plant in the world, marking a historic and exciting chapter in Firebird’s history.”
Manganese-Rich Battery Strategy: Delivery and Validation
ARENA Milestone 1 Complete – A$1,000,000 Cash Payment Received
On 17 July 2026, Firebird announced that the Australian Renewable Energy Agency
(ARENA) had formally approved the Company’s completion of Milestone 1 under the
A$2,000,000 Battery Breakthrough Initiative (BBI) grant program, triggering a A$1,000,000
non-dilutive cash payment to Firebird.
All Milestone 1 deliverables were completed ahead of schedule and within budget.
ARENA’s formal sign-off confirmed that all required deliverables met the strict compliance
requirements of the Government agency, including site selection, key equipment
procurement, and submission of a Risk Management Plan for the ADP. All major process
equipment sourced from China was independently verified as compliant with Australian
electrical standards following an in-country inspection by the Company’s Australian
electrical contractor.
The non-dilutive ARENA funding is matched by existing Company cash reserves, with a
further A$1.0 million expected to be received over coming quarters as Firebird achieves
additional ADP assembly and commissioning milestones. The ARENA grant does not grant
ARENA any rights to Firebird’s current or future intellectual property.
3
Independent Customer Testing Confirms Production of >99.99% HPMSM
On 2 July 2026, Firebird announced that independent international customer testing had
confirmed the Company’s production of high purity manganese sulphate monohydrate
(HPMSM) exceeding 99.99%. A potential international customer conducted independent
testing of a Firebird HPMSM sample produced at the Company’s Hunan pilot plant using
Firebird’s in-line impurity removal process, benchmarked against China national industry
standards.
Across all key parameters, the Firebird sample significantly exceeded the China industry
standards, with the majority of impurities recorded below 0.5 ppm detection limits and
manganese content of 32.6 Wt.% exceeding the Chinese Superior Grade benchmark. The
results provide valuable third-party validation of Firebird’s ability to consistently produce
battery-grade equivalent HPMSM and reinforce engagement with prospective customers
and strategic partners ahead of the production of Australian-made qualification samples
from the ADP.
Proprietary LMR Cathode Performance Successfully Demonstrated
On 28 July 2026, Firebird announced the successful demonstration of its proprietary
Lithium Manganese Rich (LMR) cathode materials technology, following six months of
laboratory commissioning and process optimisation at the Company’s China-based
research facility.
During the period, the Company completed twenty precursor synthesis batches and
preliminary cathode material validation campaigns, establishing stable platforms for
precursor co-precipitation, cathode sintering and electrochemical evaluation.
Independent electrochemical testing confirmed that Firebird’s LMR cathode material
achieved first-cycle discharge performance in line with commercially sourced reference
material, recording a 0.1C discharge capacity of 263.7 mAh/g and a 1C discharge capacity
of 211.2 mAh/g – approximately 65% higher than conventional LFP (160 mAh/g) and 26%
higher than high-nickel NCM (210 mAh/g) cathode chemistries.
Firebird believes it is among the first Western-listed companies to publicly report
electrochemical performance data for proprietary LMR cathode materials. Further
optimisation will focus on improving cycle life and commercial performance, with the
proprietary LMR process planned to be demonstrated at the ADP. The LMR program
continues to be co-funded by strategic partner Taza Metal Technologies, which has
committed to fund 50% of the LMR research and development activities.

First Manganese Feedstock Prepared for the ADP from Oakover Ore
On 23 September 2026, Firebird announced that manganese ore sourced from its 100%-
owned Oakover Manganese Project in Western Australia had been successfully prepared
for use in the ADP, providing the first feedstock for demonstration-scale testwork at the
Osborne Park facility. The Oakover ore was crushed, wet-milled, screened, dried and
homogenised to achieve the required particle-size distribution and produce a consistent
feedstock for demonstration-scale processing. The Oakover Manganese Project is
underpinned by an 18-year mine life and compelling project economics, including an NPV
of A$741 million and an IRR of 73%1
.
A representative subsample of the prepared ore was airfreighted to Firebird’s pilot plant
and R&D facility in Hunan, China, where it is being used as part of an October technical
program involving Dr Passmore, focused on process demonstration, technical knowledge
transfer and the transfer of operating expertise to support commissioning and operation
of the ADP.

Firebird also began welcoming brokers, analysts and industry participants through the
doors of the Osborne Park ADP site, with several site visits hosted during the Quarter and
more scheduled over the coming months. Commercial engagement continued to
accelerate, with discussions progressing with multiple global counterparties and
downstream industry participants. The Company intends to continue this program
throughout 2027 and welcomes further approaches for one-on-one or small group
meetings.
8
Firebird’s integrated manganese-to-cathode technology platform and the ADP remain
strongly aligned with global government priorities around critical minerals processing,
sovereign battery manufacturing capability, supply chain resilience and Net Zero 2050
commitments. The Company is engaged with Western OEMs, battery manufacturers and
other potential strategic investors to support commercial partnership discussions linked
to the ADP, and continues to receive strong inbound interest from potential strategic
partners seeking access to non-China sources of manganese-based battery materials.
Outlook: Near-Term Catalysts (Q4 CY2026-Q1 CY2027)
With the Osborne Park site now occupied, the first equipment container in transit and the
Hunan UHPMS technical program underway, shareholders should anticipate a steady
stream of material updates across the coming period, including:
• Equipment arrival and site delivery: Arrival of the first container at Fremantle
Port in late October, followed by customs clearance and delivery to the Osborne
Park ADP site, with subsequent containers dispatched as each equipment package
completes fabrication and FAT.

technical program processing Oakover ore through Firebird’s proprietary
flowsheet into UHPMSM, to be replicated as the first experimental campaign at
the ADP during initial commissioning activities.
• Patent pipeline: Continued progress on additional manganese-based battery
materials patent applications as Firebird expands its intellectual property
portfolio.
• ARENA milestone payments and partnering: Further cash payments under the
ARENA milestone progression, together with strategic partner updates and
broader corporate developments as they arise.
• Annual General Meeting: The 2026 AGM will be held on 25 November 2026.
Please see the Notice of Annual General Meeting lodged with ASX on 21 October
2026 for further details.
Subsequent to the End of the Quarter
Subsequent to the end of the Quarter, on 19 October 2026, Firebird announced it had
successfully produced the Company’s first 99.999% (“5N”) ultra-high-purity manganese
sulphate based on an in-line impurity extractant process, with most impurities below
lower detection limits. To the best of the Company’s knowledge, Firebird stands as the
sole Western company to have successfully manufactured 5N manganese sulphate.
Ultra-high-purity manganese sulphate commands an approximate 33% price premium
over standard battery-grade material, due to its structural scarcity within the advanced
battery materials value chain. The fluoride-free process accommodates a broad range of
feedstocks, is designed to support continuous, automated operation and has significant
potential for commercial-scale application.
9
In addition, Dr Passmore commenced a second technical program at the Hunan Pilot
Plant, processing Australian ore sourced from the Oakover Manganese Project into high
purity manganese sulphate. The same program will be replicated as the first
experimental campaign at the ADP in Osborne Park as part of initial commissioning
activities, with product purity results to be reported once the program is complete and
samples have been independently tested and validated.
Oakover Manganese Project, Western Australia
Oakover is Firebird’s strategic 100%-owned, upstream JORC resource intended to
secure long-term manganese supply for the battery materials business. The
project hosts favourable, near-surface mineralisation and prior
metallurgical test work has demonstrated the potential to produce
battery-grade feed.
Activity at the Oakover Project during the Quarter centred on the
preparation of first manganese feedstock for the ADP from Oakover ore, as
described above, with other work limited to tenure maintenance and
desktop planning while focus remained on downstream LMFP/LMR and ADP
technology initiatives.
